Before I started reading this book, I didn’t usually read books. I’m just asking if anyone else has read it and found it helpful. Is there another book you think I should read next? I want to know what you think. Thanks! Before I started reading this book, I didn’t usually read books. I’m just asking if anyone else has read it and found it helpful. IMO it’s a good theoretical staring point, but the author has a relatively limited experience building actual ML systems in the real world. As such, the content is good for fresh graduates but I find it a bit shallow.
There’s actually a much deeper book written by people with multiple decades of combined experience in ML, it’s called "Reliable Machine Learning "
This is a great book, especially when you need find a job
I don’t think most MLSD books or web material are very deep, but Chip Huyen’s is good, and I think it’s a good place to start. To get to senior level at a big tech company or a top firm, you need strong domain-specific skills. For example, if you’re on the ads team, you need to know a lot about how ads rank.
What book are you reading btw…?
The machine learning system design discussion book by Alex Xu and another author was fun to read. The book’s content is mostly in line with what I’ve seen and heard in talks and work on related projects (mostly recommender systems). There isn’t a lot of depth, and some of the ideas in the book sound good in theory but don’t work so well in practice. It is enough for talks with high-level executives.
This is the book. It has good reviews on Amazon, and a friend told me to read it.
This book, Designing Machine Learning Systems Production Ready (dp/1098107969), can be bought on Amazon.com.
The books seems good just started reading it yesterday but can’t find the system design part am I missing something?
It is very helpful to read the whole book to learn about how to build systems. It tells you what to pay more attention to when you’re working in a business setting. It helps people like me who are trying to move from a study environment to a work environment.
