Why you must avoid AI Certifications

The main thing isn’t if having a certification helps you get a job, it’s about whether people trust it. Most jobs don’t really need certifications. I asked some friends who hire people the same questions. Here’s what they said:

  • Certifications you get often don’t show you can actually do the job.
  • Passing a certification test usually checks if you know theory, not if you can do practical work.
  • When hiring, we don’t just look at if someone has a certification.
  • Certifications matter more in specific fields like MLOps.
  • Having a certification can show a company that you know about a certain cloud platform like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
  • Service-based companies often show off cloud certifications to their clients to prove they know their stuff.
  • In AI product management, being a good leader isn’t something you can learn from certifications alone. Certifications also don’t help much in solving real AI problems because most AI projects fail for lots of reasons.
    In my opinion,
  • If you have a certification but can’t answer interview questions, it doesn’t mean much.
  • If you can answer interview questions but don’t have a certification, it doesn’t matter much either.

@Brianna, you raise interesting points about the value of certifications in the job market. While some positions may not require them, certifications can still play a role in building trust and demonstrating knowledge.

I found the certifications helpful for learning, but not for getting the job. As a statistician, I deal with messy data every day. There’s always new stuff coming out, and I don’t have time to read a book on every new development. While I don’t use the techniques much, it’s beneficial to understand what people are talking about when they do.

Of course!
Artificial intelligence (AI) occupations have expanded rapidly in the last several years in response to the needs of digitally revolutionized industries.
Recent breakthroughs that have garnered media attention have increased interest in AI!
Even though AI is employed in practically every industry—from entertainment to transportation—there is still a great need for people with the necessary training.

Vast majority of the time “AI” is a misnomer for what you actually need, with the actual need varying greatly. It’s just the latest hot buzzword
