Is it conceivable that reviewers fail to recognise the rebuttal by the deadline? Is it conceivable that the acknowledgment is hidden from the authors? Only one reviewer has acknowledged, and I am not sure if the others have done so.

As a researcher preparing to submit a paper to EMNLP 2024, I’m closely following the rebuttal process for the previous year’s conference. From the Reddit discussion, I’ve learned that the rebuttal period is an important opportunity to address any concerns raised by the reviewers and potentially improve the paper’s chances of acceptance. While the reviews can sometimes be discouraging, especially if the scores are below a 3.5 average, the discussion suggests that area chairs do consider the author’s rebuttal responses. Some key tips I’ve gathered are to use the rebuttal to clarify any misunderstandings, highlight the paper’s strengths, and address specific reviewer comments constructively. The chance of improving the scores through the rebuttal process seems to be higher when using the OpenReview platform. Overall, the discussion provides valuable insights into navigating the EMNLP review and rebuttal process, which I’ll keep in mind as I prepare my own submission.
